I can tolerate a little bit of okra if it's an ingredient in a soup, stew, or gumbo. Otherwise, no thanks.
A town near where we used to live celebrated The Okra Strut every year. Most of the towns around had some sort of festival like that. I didn't bother. The town we were in had the annual Peanut Party...which sounds pretty good till you realize they mean boiled peanuts which taste like the dirt they grow in - with salt. GAG
