I kept a P38 for a long time. Better for C rats, which were already done by the time I enlisted in 89. But I had one my dad gave me and thought it might come in handy, so it stayed in the pocket of my duffel bag.

I was in at the time of the transition from C rats to MREs.

Yeah, C-rats were in surplus stores by the time I enlisted. I ate plenty of them, and K-rats too, thanks to my dad, who was in until 1972. I remember liking the peanut butter and the peaches, but at six years old I had no idea if they were actually good.
