I used to tell people that my kids didn't have a family tree but rather a family forest.
All three have different fathers and therefore share one set of grandparents in common. All my kids have half brothers, or sisters, or both. Some of them my kids have never met in person.
Back in the day we had my Mark (my oldest's paternal bio uncle), our Mark (brother) and your Mark (sister's husband)...and that's how we kept them straight in conversation.
