That's what makes this thread even dumber. At the national level, Democrats and Republicans are in near total agreement on immigration policy. It's just in media that they pretend to be polar opposites.
Both parties agree that no-one wants a rush of illegal immigrants. "Open borders" is a political loser, and both sides know it.
The parties don't agree on what to do with the illegals that have been here for decades, general immigration policy, or funding that should go to dealing with the influx.
That's definitely true... on the debate stage.
But in practice... look up deportation rates, rates of detainment at the southern border, and the amount immigrants granted citizenship under Bush, Obama, Trump, and then Biden. The numbers do not differ substantially.
This is also the case for other issues. Guess which ones!
