Since you clearly need to have the obvious spelt out for you, my point is that compartmentalization is a fact, and that otherwise-rational people can and do believe in the absolutely irrational and unevidenced -- and not just religious bullshit, either. It follows, then, that simply because someone is not suffering a complete break from reality, they may still hold beliefs that are outlandishly wrong.
