Germany surrendered three months before America dropped nukes on Hiroshima or Nagasaki. And over two and a half months before the Trinity test (the first ever nuclear detonation). Hell, the bombings had a lot less of an impact on Japan's surrender than people tend to think.

The nuke had to be blown first so Japan surrender; thus ending the war.
