It's a discussion that occurs a lot in queer spaces, in my experience, and makes various queer magazines and news articles etc.
Seems to me the world would be a better place if we all just took each other as we are, without all the labels bestowed by others. Fussing over those labels gives them an importance they should never have. YMMV
In am ideal world where things like racism, sexism, homophobia etc didn't exist, I agree.
At this point in time, words like gay or female are useful.
