Broke the 10 mile mark this weekend as the weather was nice enough to allow a 5.5 miler on Sunday. Sunday's hike was challenging, too. New terrain for us, very hilly, lots of roots and rocks, but the payoff was the headwater of the Assabet River, which was swift moving after all the recent rains. My daughter declared streamside to be her "favorite place anywhere" and my dog went for a swim.
Saturday's hike was cut short by hunters. We could hear their dogs (they put bells on the dogs to flush birds) moving toward the direction we were headed so we turned back sooner than normal. Live and let live.
