I hate the Biblical god about as much as I hate Sauron.
The god described in the Bible, could be the most evil villains in all of fiction.
Even if we ignore all the slaughter he orders (entire towns, babies, women, even animals), ignore his condoning of slavery, ignore his mass murder of the flood, we still have the invention of infinite torture for finite thought crimes.
The worst possible universe I could imagine, is one where the biblical god actually existed.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
