Freud's book Civilization and its Discontents is really good on this, and pessimistic. He points to an unresolvable paradox: to live happily we need civilization, and civilization requires control of nature, including human nature. But since humans are pretty much irrational unlimited desiring machines, any control is felt as oppression.
So we need control to be happy, but we hate it.
The limits and forms of control change over time. What civilization allows and approves of changes. And of course which institutions get to impose that control is also a matter of ongoing debate.
Well I don't need control to be happy, and I find it detestable that anyone would. And sexuality is absolutely NOT the kind of thing that should be controlled.
Your lack of control is exactly what makes you unhappy. Kind of sad that you're unable to see it.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.
