We sit in pretty flat territory and regularly get hit by Colorado lows and Alberta clippers, but the city has a ring highway that's apparently connected to a dome-like forcefield (urban heat island). A lot of threatening weather prefers to take the bypass around the ring road, thereby missing the heart of the city at least half the time.
