I guess we gradually got used to how much our old HVAC was declining.  I can keep the temp much higher as the unit now keeps the humidity under control.

It will be interesting to see what the next electric bill shows.

I had a buddy from a truck forum that we belong to look at my AC. Turns out that there was a lot of dust caked on the evaporator. It runs less, now. Not saying that that was what was up with yours...

The one we replaced was installed when the house was built some 40 odd years ago.  I think it just gave up.  I can't fault it...that's a long run in the summer heat in TX.
