Of course it’s mainly “My point of view”. But I happen to be in a country where I can observe how populists are twisting religion (and everything else) to their own advantage.
So in short terms: Many other things and especially religion is easily recycled and reused by Neo-fascist / Populist movements. By this I mean Political Islam / Radical Islam / Islamic dictatorship as well.
When we studied the Late-Roman / Early Byzantine architecture back in my school days, we used to talk a lot about “recycled architecture”. Late-Roman engineers simply took stone parts, columns or even statues from more ancient roman buildings and used them to build their churches, fortifications, palaces etc.
So we need to be vigilant on this. Faith is one thing. Recycling faith into your ego-based / twisted political agenda is something else.
