I look at it this way - whatever tech it would take to make Mars or any other planet suitable for human colonization would be better serve humanity applied to solve human issues here on Earth.

Corporate exploitation of space seems more likely to produce a dystopia than anything else.

That aside, I don't think anyone is setting foot on Mars in my lifetime.
