Last three days have been The Pacific Airshow that happens this time of year, down on the sand.
Many of the flight teams turn around, and re-enter the show area, flying right over my house at mach .9 at about 300 feet. I can see the pilots, and a couple have waved.
They haven't broken any windows yet, but it seems close. Car alarms going off in abundance after every pass.
It was a lot of fun, and we'd have parties in the past, walk down to the water and watch, even.
But we're over it.
As for weather, this year was somewhat unusual, as the typical "June Gloom" (in October) was in full force, and the marine layer made both flying and observing quite difficult.
Some demos were canceled each day, and scheduling was intermittent, as they waited for openings in the clouds.
Those that flew below the cloud ceiling (Thunderbirds, F22s etc) were especially loud. Probably sound reflecting off the bottom of the cloud deck.
Took my sons to Plant 10 in Palmdale to see the Spirit of California B-2 presented to the public. A low speed pass from that thing was quite the experience. Years later our Boy Scout troop was camping out in the desert east of Mojave, and on the return drive a B-2 and chase plane flew over. I stopped and took some pics. One of the most eerie things I have ever experienced is when the thing turned so that I was looking into a wingtip across the aircraft (from a long ways off, ofc) and the thing disappeared from view.
