Rising crime in the UK

For what it’s worth, when it comes to perpetrators, I am aware that, at least in per capita terms, black people (even in Britain) get a higher arrest rate than white people. I suspect that a lot of people (like the OP) would see that and just think “okay, I guess black people are just inherently more criminal.”

But then again, a lot of people (like me) want to look deeper into it and wonder why this is the case. Now, the issues over why crime occurs is an extremely complicated one, but poverty is one of the most obvious factors, and this remains true even in Britain. And it turns out that non-white people are a lot more likely to live in poverty.
