I suspect that in the case of black people, you don't want to believe that they're more prone to criminality (I'm not saying they are) and so to you, there must surely be some other factor, a factor that would apply to anyone.
This is simply a suggestion: What if it is simply the case that black people are wired differently and react differently to things? I'm not saying this is the case, however I've seen many videos of a black person being calmly questioned by the police only to suddenly turn aggressive, which I can imagine would cause some people to conclude that they are more troublesome by nature. That may not be true but some may think that after seeing this play out multiple times.
Is it really so painful to accept the possibility that they're different? I'm not saying they are, I'm just asking you would it be so difficult to accept it, if it was the case.
Scientifically speaking, there's no such thing as race. There are no systematic differences between people of different "races", so from a biological perspective, there is no inherent reason why the behavior of people with dark skin should differ from that of people with light skin. That's strong circumstantial evidence that any behavioral differences are a product of environment. So it follows from the science that there are likely confounding factors involved. One need not manufacture a reason for the curiosity about confounding factors such as wokeness, white guilt, or whatever. It's simply following the evidence.
So, if both race and crime are social constructs, assuming a natural correlation between the two is a dead end.
