Therein lies the problem - to the best of your knowledge.

It didn't happen spontaneously...ya know...without a creator.

In Drew's defense, and those aren't words you'll hear me utter often, he's complete rubbish with the Quote and Reply functions. It's like BBCode is Linear B for him. I can't imagine him having the ability to deliberately alter the quote tag. It's infinitely more likely that he just bungled the reply and mangled the quote tag by accident, typing word salad in the wrong place.
