It must be the same way with scientists who claim we live in a multiverse.

Not everyone who believes in multiverse is an atheist and you assume atheism has anything to do with there acceptance of the hypothesis as plausible rather they accept a multiverse and at the same time don't accept a god both things can be true    

They just have no idea how smart and insightful you people are.

I imagine we are far off from them in various ways 

 They obviously haven't heard the parable you folks preach about the puddle and the water and how that is a perfectly analogous to the fine-tuning of the universe. 

They probably have heard the puddle analogy also we don't reach anything stop projecting you religious inclinations onto us thank you. Also it's analogous to fine-tuning as there is no evidence of such a thing only heap of fallacious assumptions the point of the puddle analogy is to point out that nit wits who argue for fine-tuning are pushing an assumption that fits just as well the other way around not as an assertion of how it actually happened as no one knows how it happened
