Elon Musk announces his departure from DOGE and president Trump’s cabinet

He wasn’t exactly a rousing success. First, he claimed he could cut $2 trillion, then it was $1 trillion. Then he crowed about cutting $160 billion. Given that his ‘cuts’ actually cost the government $135 billion, his actual savings (assuming he’s not lying) are $25 billion.

If my arithmetic is correct (no guarantees), this is three one hundredths of one percent of total US federal spending.

Sort of like hiring someone who promises to mow you lawn, but quits after plucking one blade of grass.
