I think the truck I saw was a Peterbilt (an American commercial truck builder). It has a range of around 130 - 150 miles and a capacity for 1500 pick-ups.
I see the Rivian Amazon trucks all the time now. It was many months after they were first reported to be operating. Once I saw the first one, that was all I saw. I haven't see a combustion Amazon truck since. I used to hear the old trucks pull up. The only way I hear the Rivians is if the driver slams a door.
Yes, lithium-ion battery packs have evolved considerably even since 2012 when the Tesla Model S premiered. Many different formulations and much cheaper. Perhaps it would have been a hard sell early on, particularly before Tesla family sedans destroyed the golf cart image by embarrassing Ferraris in drag races.
I know if I were starting an electric vehicle manufacturing business now, I'd say to hell with cars. Just build big, ugly commercial vehicles that are super practical and will pay for themselves in a short time.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
