Oh, you mean like the Catholic Church circa WWII? Or the Catholic Church circa modern times in regards to all the conflicts in Africa, not the least of which we can point to the Lord's Resistance Army? How about the protestants with all their witch-burnings until the practice was forcibly outlawed, or the modern bible-belt-ist who thinks a woman's place is in the kitchen or in the nursery? Shall we speak of the famous lack of demeanor, dignity, decency, and mutual respect that resonates throughout the history books from Christians and their institutions, like the Inquisition, the Tithes, the Conquistadors?
Don't hold yourself up to be a moral paragon. You accept the mantle of religion, you accept the mantle of all the foul deeds of its followers, both past and present, ergo you need to get off your pedestal and lower your nose about 45 degrees.
