Oh great, someone who believes the media over what actual people in the industry think. Facebook privacy used to be a massive problem, but they have entire teams dedicated to boosting privacy these days. You can control almost every aspect of your account, which is far more than most services offer.
In reality, the only privacy related problem with Facebook today is the amount of data they keep on you. Still, I would argue this falls into a totally different category (data retention) than what we are talking about here (data sharing).
