It's only an idea, however, and no evidence supports it.
In fact the evidence flatly contradicts it.
Genetic research shows not only our decent from a common ancestor with apes but roughly when it happened.
As to our hairlessness, sexual preference will have had a strong influence, as it did with the peacocks tail.
As an aside, do you ever wonder why seeing someone vomit makes us want to join in?
