I just use whatever shape of words best fits the situation, if that makes any sense. Sometimes the occasion might call for a "god" or perhaps more colourful and earthy language is required. As a writer with a writer's ear for language, I always look for le mot juste that imparts the maximum information with the most economy. I have used phrases such as "oh my (lack of) god" or "oh my Darwin" but quite astonishingly sparingly and only in forum posts, to me they come across as contrived, clumsy and downright pretentious. So fuck 'em.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
