To everyone else, it's very simply two people who love each other, wanting to express their love and share the same benefits that opposite-sex married people have.
Humanity itself has rejected the "normal way of life". We fly around at 700 mph in metal tubes, use light to transmit vast amounts of data, and have designed so many types of clothing we have to separate them into "seasonal fashions". How is any of that normal?!? Everyone is different; we have different beliefs, different values, different needs, different loves, different hopes, different dreams, and the sooner we realise that, the sooner we can work towards a society which understands that one cannot be free and democratic if you are voting on motions which will restrict and limit the freedoms of people other than yourself.
Quote:You are allowing the homosexual community to have its cake and eat it too. That is never a good situation and demonstrates favortism for sinful and wrongbehavior. Nothing good comes from a union beteen homosexuals, why let it continue? How can it demonstrate favouritism when opposite-sex couples already can get married? It cannot. Put yourself in their shoes; what if things were different, and believers like yourself were not allowed to get married? Didn't the Bible (and Jesus) have some very telling things to say about how to treat others?
I hold that good can come from a union between two men, or two women, because such a union is based on the same kind of love that you can get between a man and a woman. Love is a good thing, a marriage is a celebration of love to many people, and it is unfair to say that two people in love cannot get married because of something so petty as their gender.
Quote:How is allowing gay marriage for the better? It is more equal than simply designating marriage as something only a man and a woman can have.
Quote:You are just like the California homosexual community. You and they are only happy and support democracy when its results are in your favor but when it goes against you then it is ridiculous, wrong, and influenced by religion. How is that any different to what you are doing here? Everyone does this; it is the one weakness of democracy, especially when democracy is used to try and dictate morality. We end up with a morality decided by the majority, which is rarely a good thing.
Quote:You forget that people have free choice and they are allowed to freely choose against same sex marriage. Atheists do not have a monopoly on free will or choice. If you have to win each time then you are not advocating democracy but dictatorship in your and thehomosexual's favor. That is not right for their are more people living in a democracy than just atheists and gays. You forget that people's free choice is influenced by many factors, in this case, the church and their religious beliefs. There are no logical reasons to prevent gay marriage, only ones based on deeply held (and selfish) religious beliefs.
