Er, because he may well be employing it to generate an emotional response for the purpose of garnering some sympathy or at least a lessening of the drubbing he's been taking in other threads.

Or he maybe simply relaying an event that happened around father's day 16 or 17 years ago.

Then, too, it could simply be to draw other christians to his side.

It's been my experience 'christians' seem to be most critical about the details of the event. The telling of this story was not for any group of people. It was simply time to tell the story to you all.
