I think the article makes a good point. Although the song 'I Kissed A Girl' is about a girl kissing a girl, the sign itself does not clarify which sex the author is referring to.
One could assume that grandma and grandpa Jones aren't going to understand the reference and may become a little confused by such a statement...
Grandma: "Harold, are we not letting those youngsters even kiss each other now?!?"
Grandpa: "I guess the rules in our church are even stricter than I thought!"
Grandma: "Maybe its time for a new church. I caught our grandson feeling up the preacher's daughter. I had no idea he could go to hell for it!"
At any rate the sign definitely shows the incredible amount of stupidity that christians have and when amassed together in communal worship - it's amplified 10fold.
