I like this. Really informative. but we still have a little problem.

How do you explain this reflex more detailed then just:
-If we are born without that reflex we don't breath and die, so the acquirement for life, is to have it.

'Don't know' is not an acceptable answer when discussion with somebody who thinks they have all the answers.
But thanks to the other members I know have a more defied answer to give.
To everyone:
Is it safe to assume that us breathing air is due to evolution. Something drew us up on land basically. Food, safety, less competition for resources and so on.
