Sorry to be noodge ,but I think a better example may be needed. The commandment actually says "Thou shalt commit no murder"
This is an important distinction for a people for whom 'stranger' also meant 'enemy'. Its not murder to kill an enemy.In the Torah this included entire tribes; men, women,children and animals.
