I spend most of the school semester away from him, as we go to different schools about an hour and 45 minutes away from each other. It's difficult, but modern technology makes it much easier to bare. I hope this will remain true when he goes off to do field work overseas for months at a time.
My sister in law goes through that every time my brother in law deploys for his job with the Army. Just do yourself a favor, don't go batshit crazy and neurotic while he is gone because you miss him and might not get to see him or talk to him daily. She does that and it puts a HUGE strain on their relationship.
