I have exactly the same problem. Unless a book is just phenomenal I can't usually read non-fiction quickly. For some reason my mind just doesn't process it fast enough. If I read it quickly I walk away not having grasped a damn thing. Fiction on the other hand I can fly through relatively quickly if the book is good enough. I just finished the book Medusa by Clive Cussler and it took me nearly no time at all.
