In all seriousness, if there is life on Mars, it would almost certainly be microbial, and I would think an evolutionary dead end (with respect to achieving sentience). So my thought would be that it would be afforded the same consideration that we give similar life forms here on Earth, which is to say none at all, if we wished to terraform Mars.
