Obvious statement is obvious. I was merely pointing out that their governments/people are not nearly so put-off by the atrocities of the Taliban as they would like the rest of civilized world to believe. There's no need to talk down to me like I'm some kind of fucking idiot.

Religiously motivated? I think not.
Whether or not the true motive is money and power, the act is justified and carried out by way of religion. The Taliban themselves gives explanation of their atrocities, and it is always for reasons of fundamentalist Islamic law.
