You know, I'll be honest, even decades after I'd left the Christ child behind in my anxiety closet, when I heard about the blaspheming challenge and the mention of it in The God Who Wasn't There, I felt very uncomfortable about doing it myself. I guess some memes die hard. I was raised Christian, and while my Taoist and Hindu beliefs, ostensibly, have carved out the space once occupied by God and Christ, the concepts and symbols in Christianity still light me up in ways that are comparable to those of even my sweet goddess. (Although Kwan Yin lights me up pretty good, too, and I've never been a Buddhist.)
While I respect the radar of the atheists here, and find myself a bit suspicious as well, there are other potential explanations. One of which may be that he's simply a bit of a jerk.
