Things aren't too bad where I live in Australians, here Christians are a small minority and politicians (they don't for various reasons) could get away with pissing them off quite easily.
A Bill of Rights for the Australian Constitution like for the American one would help a lot in secularizing the nation much more than it is already is.
* In my country conservative Christians are often derided by the rest of the population as Wowsers (people sap all the fun out of any given situation).
That is because the Swedish government are a bunch of castrati when it comes to facing down the religious fanatics. The Australian government are much the same, like wise for our "easy going" populace.

Sure, a large percentage are 'atheist', but you find some of the most religious nutters (mostly immigrants unfortunately), who do all kinds of shit in the name of their gods. And Swedes, being the non-confrontational softies they are, are afraid taking about these problems, because they don't dare offend anyone. Many a problem is wiped under the rug and religious minorities are grabbing for benefits at the expense of the majority.
