I love this overture. Anything played by Berlin and conducted by Simon Rattle is bound to be good. I have played this overture before in an amateur orchestra. I love it because it's got a lot of solo parts for the clarinet and it's actually quite easy to play. There are difficult parts in the other parts of the opera but this part is easy. Wenzel Fuchs (lead clarinettist) is brilliant but he refuses to be my friend on Facebook. I should change my profile pic so I don't appear in it but just my clarinet. Then he might think I'm some older clarinet player in LSO.
