Your second sentence may contain the answer to what I'm observing, but I don't completely understand it. MyBB places more importance on posts made while I'm visiting? But anything that changes should show up in my "New Posts" queue.
The fact that so many people are reporting that they use today's posts instead of new posts suggests to me that others have experienced the same issue. The two should only differ in that a thread with no new entries since last viewed would not appear in it. Why would you want to look at that thread then? I get that you might want to just see what's being discussed that day, but aren't most people, most of the time, just interested to see what's changed?
