I think I was unclear. Our American energy policy hinges on politicians wanting to be reelected. It's not based on a longview. That's why we're still pushing coal, even though we know that particular resource will run out in about 50 years. We aren't making the necessary investments in our energy future. We are simply saying "Drill baby, drill" or mine as the case may be.
I'm just saying that here, we aren't even having the discussion about how to effectively and efficiently move towards sustainable forms of energy. At least Germans are having a grown up conversation about the problem at hand, instead of strip mining and fraking to get every last ounce of fossil fuel from the Earth.

And I guess the general population is aware of that and is aware that prices will rise.
The questions rising here are more questions of honesty and efficiancy.
We are currently undergoing a lot of bottlenecks - since not that energy is there to be destributed.
Companies have used this by on purpose switching of machines to demand compensation from the goverment.
And it currently seems like the goverment is in over it`s head and that the major energy companies are not pulling with them.
Everyone here is aware that the change is coming and everyone wants it to happen, and everyone accepts that it will take a long time and might have a high cost.
But we still want it to be handeled efficiantly and reject what currently seems to be half chaos half order in the minestry of energy and minestry of inviorment.
