Belief is part of a mechanism. Understand the mechanism and you may understand belief. You are letting your psychology and epistemology be driven by aesthetic concerns and first principles that are largely immaterial to them. A recent book I half read asked why we fail? Why, despite being equipped with the ability to know good from evil, and the consequences of choosing each, do we often choose the worse? Why when we know what we want, do we do the reverse? Why do we yield to temptation, knowing the consequences? In short, why do we fail?
When you can answer that question, maybe you'll be worth listening to. In the meantime, I'm going back to sleep.
