On that note this epic video from few months back seems very relevant (your video isnt working and appears to be almost 6 mins long, so it cant be this one unless your video is made up of two clips, this one after the first)
Yeah, that's the one I was looking for, I just didn't remember where it was on Youtube; I would have spent longer looking for it if not for the fact that this cold is kicking my ass and staying upright, in frong of my computer takes more effort than I can currently put out.
Anyway, the video I put up was a black man, I think he's a pastor, and he was describing his fight to marry his wife. Problem is, his wife isn't the same race as him and they were planning to move to a better economy. Problem was, when they were trying to decide where to move, there were a lot of places they couldn't move to simply because their marriage wouldn't be valid; this included the south, states like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Texas. It's also worth noting that those are also the states that are the strongest in their anti-gay marriage stance today. They use the same language, the same argument, the same worries about culture and defense of traditional marriage.
I think that if conservatives actually paid attention to history (instead of their falsified version of history) they wouldn't be conservatives anymore.

Alaska has a very strong case for leaving the union, between oil, fishing, mining, and lumber... and because there are so few of them, the state even has a somewhat vocal 'independence' party (lol... http://www.akip.org/ ).
It's certainly big enough to be a nation And it's return is higher than that of many countries. Can you imagine if it achieved nationhood? Immigration would go WILD.
Would it mean the rest of us don't have to put up with Sarah Palin anymore? If so, I'm all for it.
That being said, I've heard Alaska has some pretty socialistic laws regarding their oil reserves. Not that I mind, but, damn, it's incredibly hypocritical for them to accept all this socialism when it benefits them and then complain when government programs help anyone else.
