...and in future years, assuming Christianity hasn't gone the way of Zeus, Odin and Ra, Christian leaders will claim the gay rights movement as their accomplishment as well. Locally, we have pastor Joe Phelps (not to be confused with the Westboro group) who campaigns for gay rights and liberal values and people like him will be touted as an example. Future Christians will say they supported equality all along. Too bad about all those false Christians who misunderstood what scripture really said yatta yatta blah blah blah...
It's like I said to you, A Theist, future reactionaries will disavow the ones of earlier generations, just like how you're doing with your predecessors.
With every social and technological advance, Christianity gets dragged kicking and screaming into each modern age, social progress being made possible only overtop Christian resistance, after which Christianity dusts itself off and proclaims, "Aren't you glad we fought FOR all this? You're welcome."
Only one problem for historical revisionists like yourself: Christianity may change but the Bible doesn't. It's unambiguously pro-slavery, pro-royalty and anti-women's rights.
