Cats lie at the intersection of arrogance and aloofness, and the absurd and self-parody. As such, they make ideal jesters, reflecting the human condition in its most intimate.
No, they don't "reflect" we anthropomorphically project our human qualities on them because it is fun.
But the qualities you mentioned are not because they are cats, but because like all species an individual is still ultimately and individual. My last cat compared to the one I have now was much more independent and "arrogant" to the point if you pushed him too far would take a chunk out of you. The one I have now is a big baby and has always been playdough and never scratches or bites me no matter how much I tease him.
We anthropomorphize lots of things as humans, most notably in the creation of gods through our imaginations.
Aristotle I believe said "If horses had gods they would look like horses".
And my cat just like the last one I had, both did silly things that made me laugh. My last one fell off a BAY WINDOW ledge(those things are not narrow). He also ran around my apt with my key string in tow because he got scared of the keys hitting the floor.
This one I have now just today, ran from me because he likes hide and seek, but forgot to look where he was running and bumped his head against the leg of my kitchen chair.
Cats are fun.
These are all great! I love the "guess who found your antidepressant pills" LOL
I really needed a good laugh today considering. Keep em coming.
