(Note to reader, I admit, this really is a yuck factor to me, and nothing more. But I simply just don't get why people like this particular type of cat)

It's cute because he looks so grumpy, you just want to pinch his cheeks. And pugs are cute, too. Their little bug eyes look silly on their faces and I like it when they run with their tongues out. I am not "pretending" they are cute. This is what's called a difference of opinion. Like Rayaan said, cute is subjective.
