RE: vague or specific
It is surprisingly hard to pick one. But I pick the specific and honest because I feel that they are at least reasoning on a more rational level. How rational is it to twist everything around so that the religion says what you want it to? I think that is almost the equivalent of not believing at all -- which is where I found I was.

The thing is that they claim to be followers of Christ and when you read what the Jesus Christ of the bible told people that they should do he said: don't kill other people, don't steal, don't commit adultery, don't falsely accuse other people, and try to show a little compassion for your neighbor. The hardcore Christians aren't showing compassion. The vague Christians aren't showing common sense. They can rationalize just about anything -- provided that it was done by one of their guys (I am thinking politicians).

I'm amazed at the way the Christians dance around what Jesus actually taught. He sure as hell didn't teach people to go out and be vigilantes. They read what he taught and they ignore it and focus on the supernatural crap. They argue that it is impossible for people not to kill, steal, malign, and cheat, and show consideration to others -- and they argue that they can only be "saved" by Gods grace. Who gives a shit if they are "saved"? They are so damn focused on themselves and their own make believe salvation that they aren't really showing any compassion for other people.
