Appearently so. The Prophets of God repersented God Himself. God is not to be mocked. The 42 died so that all their after show know this.

If you read the passage closly it indicates that their was more than 42 kids there. I like to think the 42 who died where all who mocked the embodyment of God Elisha repersented.

Bears are huge, and extremely fast (when they want to be/ They can catch fish by plucking them out of the water with a paw or mouth.) We have a stuffed grizzley in a local shop he is posed on his hind legs and is at Least 10 ft tall with massive paws. I can see them cutting through a full grown man in one or two solid swipes.

With the proper motivation I'm sure they could have cut through 100 kids given enough time. (remember the story does not give us a time frame.)

Plus it is hard to believe that this is the story in the chapter you are having trouble accepting. If you can accept everything elses said how hard would it be for God to supercharge a couple of bears?

God is awesome and powerful and is not to be mocked. Let alone a physical manefestation or repersentation of God. In that time they did not live in a state of constant grace. (which is why people were killed for certain sins.)

I don't know, I kinda feel like JohnV gave the mental gymnastics a lot more effort Drich. He's kinda making you look bad right now bud. I mean with his version, no one got hurt and god was only sending bears to disperse a bunch of grown men. Your version has your god ripping the guts out of little children for the slightest of infractions. I gotta tell ya - I'm not feeling the love out of this god that you claim designed all men to be loved by him.

Tell you what, if you'd like, I'll give you another chance. There are several good apologists links for this story and I think you can do better. I have to admit though, it is nice to finally here some truth come out of your mouth about your horrible god ... even if it was accidental.

2) Elisha was the physical embodiment or a physical repersentation of God on Earth. to Mock God's phophet was to Mock God in his face.

3)We currently live in a state of Grace, meaning 'we' do not have to die for our sins in this life. (or the next.)

I'd like to know how far the bears had to travel to kill the little kids. Did god send polar bears? Alaskan grizzlies? It must have been one of those mysterious desert bears types that the Scooby Doo Gang might find.

Bears are native to Europe though, and they get smaller the further south and arid you get. (Has something to do with food sources and EVOLUTION!) Where did the bible passage writer live?

The Hebrew word is dob. It is used 12 times to describe bears. I would assume they used this word to describe the Syrian brown Bear, and it lived in the region.

Not to pick on you brakeman, but I see what you have done here all the time with Atheists in general. You assume that whatever your current understandings of the way the universe works, is complete when it comes to all things religion. To the point you could not even do a google search before you said something and made a fool of yourself.

My question for you all is, If you are so blind about what is easily known, and are confidence in your ignorance, how much could you possiably know about a God who hides Himself from you, unless you first humble yourself to Him?
