The hotter it gets, folks, like me, that can keep those air conditioners running become more and more popular..... and expensive.

C'mon global warming!


R-22 is the most widely used refrigerant in use. After 2008 manufacture of this refrigerant was banned. As supplies dwindle, the cost for this R-22 starts it's climb upward. Folks, like me, who have been hording containers sit on gold.

I paid an average of $7 per pound. I have about 20 30lb containers which I sell, right now, for an average of $75 per pound. As supplies dwindle, that goes up.

I shall be as the crack dealer, freon in hand waving it to and fro saying "C'mon... ya know ya want it. Only $150 a pound." The consumer will have a choice. If he needs 5 pounds of freon that's $750. It's either that or replace the entire system with one that uses the 'eviromentally safe' refrigerant 410a for a cost of about $5000, retrofit for use with an R-22 alternative for about $2500 or pay me to seal any leaks and recharge with R-22 for a cost of about $900. Either way I make $$$, more so if they choose the cheapest option!
