I know of one person who started out as a particularly strident and devout creationist-type xtian on another (sadly extinct) forum, who over time and with encouragement became less and less sure of his beliefs; to the point when he suddenly announced he had lost faith in them completely and became one of our more outspoken atheist members. I still keep in touch occasionally via Facebook, he's doing very well for himself. So places like this can be beneficial in ways you might not even suspect.
