I think there's a point, it's just that the point isn't pleasing some supernatural dictator and reserving my seat in Heaven. The point is to learn, mature, create, improve and leave behind a world which is less violent and ignorant than the one into which we are born.
Relying on supernatural fantasy to 'redress the balance' sounds tilting at windmills to me.
