It is not a bad thing, but it is very vain and small to center your life around trying to prove that you are smarter than other people. Many people go through their whole lives essentially trying to prove their intelligence to others. This is a very destructive and egotistical way to learn about the world, and it severely disrupts learning about the world.

Sounds like you've got a problem with ego, not intellect. Should have said that from the beginning.

To understand what the world around teaches us requires patience and humility and listening and putting aside what one wants to find and letting the world speak for itself. People that are proud do not do this, they focus on what they already believe and close their minds to what the world around would reveal to them.

If you actually did this, you would not be a theist.
